RentRealm for AppFolio
Works through your listing feed in MITS format
If your AppFolio account has a listing feed in MITS format, the XML feed listing sites read, RentRealm imports it like any other feed. There’s no direct AppFolio connection.
| Connects through | MITS listing feed |
|---|---|
| Checked for changes | About every 10 min |
| Tried with a customer’s feed | Not yet |
| Direct AppFolio connection | Planned |
What works today
- Import from a MITS-format listing feed. RentRealm’s import reads the layout of AppFolio’s published sample feeds.
- A Zillow-format feed works too, if that’s the one you have.
- Once saved, the feed is checked for changes about every 10 minutes, and when a home leaves it, its page stays up for at least a year and points to similar homes.
How to connect AppFolio
Find your feed’s address
You need the web address of the XML feed that lists your vacancies for listing sites. If you don’t have it, ask AppFolio support for your MITS listing feed URL.
Create your account
Sign up at app.rentrealm.com and set up your company and first site, or call us to join Early Access.
Paste the feed address
In the setup wizard’s listings step, or under Listings → Listing feed, paste it and select Save feed. RentRealm downloads the feed once to check it, and confirms a MITS feed with “Saved as a MITS feed”.
Press Sync now
Your listed units import with their photos. From then on, RentRealm checks the feed for changes about every 10 minutes.
Use your own domain
Move your site from yourcompany.rentrealm.com to a domain you own, such as yourcompany.com or rentals.yourcompany.com.
What each listing bringsAddress, rent, available date, bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, description, photos, amenities, pet policy, security deposit, and the application, admin and broker fees your feed lists.
Limits to know
- We haven’t yet imported a real customer’s AppFolio feed. The import is tested against AppFolio’s published sample layout, so tell us if something in yours doesn’t come over.
- Only what the feed carries comes over. RentRealm reads nothing from AppFolio itself.
- A fee without a flat amount is shown without one and left out of the total price.
- Changes show once RentRealm checks the feed again, not the moment you save them in your software.
Planned, not built yet
Planned: a direct AppFolio connection. We haven’t chosen how it will work.
What you get, whatever you connect
A page for every listing, on your own domain
Each unit gets its own page at an address that doesn’t change, on yourcompany.rentrealm.com or your own domain. When a home is leased, its page stays up for at least a year and points to similar homes.
Found by search engines and AI assistants
Listing facts are in the page’s HTML, with structured data, a sitemap and llms.txt, so Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity can read them.
Leads with their source
Renters request showings and ask questions on the listing page. Each lead arrives with the page and channel it came from, and “Is it available?” questions can get an automatic answer.
Fair Housing checks
Listing descriptions are checked for Fair Housing issues before they go live, and flagged ones are held back.
